Orion Law Management Orion Desktop Articles Billing User with Full Rights to Billing Unable to Access Client-Matter field in Bill Preparation Updated April 14, 2025 18:01 If you have an User that has been given full rights to Billing but the User is unable to access/enter a Client-Matter number in Bill Preparation, the User has been set up as a Restricted User. The Restricted setting on the User record controls whether or not the Client-Matter field in Bill Preparation is accessible. If an User is set as Restricted, the User can only launch Bill Preparation on an existing Prebill record through the Prebill Manager (the User can launch Bill Preparation through Matter Status depending on proxy rights).To give the User the ability to call up any Client-Matter (enter a Client-Matter Number) in Bill Preparation through the Prebill Manager, go to File Maintenance Manager and choose TOOLS, Manage Users. Locate and open the appropriate User record and then access the Administration Tab. Remove the check mark from the Restricted option and then save the record.Restricted Users may be given rights to Bill Preparation; however, they can only launch Bill Preparation off of a Prebill Manager record they can see (controlled by proxy rights) or from within Matter Status where they have Proxy Rights to the Responsible Attorney on the Matter.
