Orion Law Management Orion Desktop Articles Server and Workstation Updating the Orion Software Updated April 14, 2025 19:14 To schedule an update email support@orionlaw.com and they will work with you on scheduling a time.Updates are covered under your maintenance agreement and there will not be a charge if done during normal business hours. If the update is done during non-business hours, the after hours hourly rate will apply and there is a minimum 2 hour charge. The day before the update we recommend sending an email to all users notifying them of three things.1. Orion will be down for aproximately 30 minutes at the designated time of the update.2. Close the Orion software when they leave or if in the afternoon close before the update time. (This is not mandatory as we can disconnect them but it will prevent them from getting errors and asking questions when they return)3. When they open Orion after the update it may take longer to open than normal. The software has to rebuild some local files on their workstation. If they do a clean exit, the next time it opens will be normal. When we are done with the update we will send an email to our contact that we are finished and it is ok for the users to open Orion.IT Staff - If you are using terminal or citrix servers, you may be launching OrionDesktop.exe locally on those servers. To check, click on the properties of the shortcut and see if the target is pointing to the C: drive or the O: drive. If it is pointing to the C: drive, once the update is done you'll need to copy the contents of O:\orion\orwin to that local C: directory where the shortcut is pointing.Release notes on the changes made to the software can be found on the Orion Knowledge Base website under the "Other" section or do a search on release notes.Note: All updates are not one size fits all so this applies to the standard update process. If it may take longer, the Orion rep will let the contact know. Was this article helpful? Yes/No
