Use of Multiple Rate Sets on a Client

  • Updated

Can I have more than one Rate Set for the same Client?  If an insurance company is paying us differently for different Types of Law, how can I set this up using the same Client Number?

You can only assign one default rate code to a Client record, and that is used just for default purposes when entering the Matter.  The "real" rate code to be used by the system when entering time is actually assigned at the Matter level.  You would just assign the appropriate Rate Set (based on type of law) to each Matter record.  You can only have one Rate Set per Matter record, but each Matter should be its own Type of Law, so that should not be an issue.
