Orion Law Management Orion Desktop Articles Accounts Payable PDF File Not Displaying Properly when Attached as Image to Voucher or Check Request Updated April 14, 2025 17:45 Periodically you may run across a PDF file that does not display correctly when attached to a voucher or check request as an image. The image may be blank, unreadable, enlarged, etc. This is caused by information embedded by the copier/scanner when creating the file and the embedded information is being interpreted in a different manner. Although you can try to create the PDF file using a different scanner/copier, this may not always be an option. The following instructions are an alternate method to get the image in the system in a readable format and assume you are running the Windows 7 operating system.1. If you have tried to attached a PDF file to a voucher or check request but it is not showing up properly, open the PDF file outside of Orion. 2. Open the Windows 7 Snipping Tool. If you do not have “Snipping Tool” as an option on your Start menu or your Desktop, click on the START Button and in the “Search Programs and Files” box, type in snipping. You should see an option for Snipping Tool become available.3. Click on the drop down arrow next to the "NEW" Button and choose “Rectangular Snip” and then drag the mouse “around” that portion of the PDF file that you want in the Voucher Image. The Snipping Tool will take a screen shot and display the image.4. Choose File, Save As and save the file to somewhere on your workstation - enter a name you will recognize and choose “Portable Network Graphic file (PNG)” as the file type.5. Close your PDF file and the Snipping Tool.6. Go back into your Check Request or Voucher and choose ATTACH IMAGE. When the Add Image screen comes up, click on ADD BLANK PAGE and then click on INSERT IMAGE. Browse to where you saved the screen shot, highlight the file and click OPEN.7. Once the screen shot has been pulled into the system as an image, click SAVE CHANGES. Was this article helpful? Yes/No
