Creating Service/Activity Codes that Prompt Users for Information

There may be particular types of activity where you want to assure the User enters certain information.  For example, you may want to make sure the User always enters the name of the Court where a motion is being filed.  Creating a Service/Activity Code for each court is not practical.  To provide the keystroke shortcut for "telephone call," you would “prompt” the User for the name of the court when using the Service/Activity Code.  This is done by using the { and } characters.  You place a label indicating the information you want entered inside the {} and the program will prompt the User for entry. For example, you would create an Activity Code tc as shown below:

When an User chooses the Service/Activity in Fee Entry, after entering the information for which the User is prompted and clicking the OK key, the Fee Description field would be populated as shown below:

There is a limited amount of space to display the label for the information for which you are prompting so be as concise as possible in your label.
