Changing Client and Matter Number on a Closed File

"I have a Client-Matter Number on a closed file that I would like to change to a new Client-Matter Number.  Do I need to reopen the Client-Matter to change the number?"

No, it is not required that you reopen the Client-Matter.  If you want to change the Client Number to a completely new Client Number that does not exist in the system, you will need to open the Client form in the normal manner via the intake process, complete it and assign the Client Number.  Go to the Client-Matter record and use Tools > Move Matter  to the new Client Number and assign it the Matter Number that you would like to use.
