Orion Law Management Orion Desktop Articles Billing Changing the Unit Cost for Copies on a Client-Matter Updated April 14, 2025 18:37 To change the charge per copy for this Client-Matter, you must first have an Expense (EX) Code set up with a 10¢ unit charge assigned. This is done through File Maintenance Manager, TOOLS, Manage Codes, Show Codes for Expense Codes. Once you have done this, go into Bill Preparation and select the transactions you want to change to use the Code set up for a 10¢ unit charge. Access ACTION, Global Edit and the following screen will appear:Choose the new EX Code you want assigned to the transactions. Check the option to Recalculate Amounts and, if desired, the option to Change the Description. Click the OK Button and the program will recalculate the Original and Bill Amounts based on the unit cost set up in the new Code. Recalculating the amounts does not affect billing realization.NOTE: If you elect to change the description, the old description is overwritten. Therefore, if you have added additional descriptions to the transactions (not including those attached to the EX Code originally used), you may not want to choose this option but instead use the Search and Replace feature.
