Can Inactive Vendors Be Deleted from the System?

NO. If a Vendor has been used to create AP activity, it cannot be deleted. If you try to delete a Vendor you will receive the following error message:

Instead, you have two options:

1. Set the Vendor as “Inactive” and click Save. 

OR

2. Create a Vendor named “Inactive” with a code of INACT.  When you want to get rid of an inactive vendor record (i.e., Vendor = Cason’s Printing, Vendor Code = CASON), call the appropriate code up (CASON), click on Tools -> Merge Vendor. Enter the code created for “inactive vendors” and click Merge. Orion will ask you to confirm that you want to merge the displayed record with the INACT vendor.  If you confirm this is what you want to do, all history is combined with the INACT Vendor and the vendor record for CASON will no longer exist

NOTE:  This process cannot be reversed.
