Adding a Type of Law Code

To enter a Law Type Code, click on the TOOLS Button on the File Maintenance Manager Tool Bar and then click on the Manage Codes option.  From the File Maintenance Codes window, choose to Show Codes for Law Types.  The following window will appear:

You may sort the list by Code or Description by clicking on the appropriate column name.  To add a new Code, click the NEW Button and the following window will appear:

Code

The Code field is a five digit alphanumeric field.  You must have at least one Law Type Code on file.

Description

Enter a description (name of department) for the Code.  This name will appear on all screens and reports related to the Law Type.  Any report or report summary sorted by Law Type will sort by the Law Type Description.

GL Account

This is a required field and will automatically populate with the account number set up as the Default Fee Income account in the Interface Table.  You may either accept the value or enter a different General Ledger Income Account Number that you wanted associated with fee payments on Matters set up with this Law Type Code.  If you do not know the Account Number, you may use the Look-Up function to locate it.

Click the SAVE Button to save your new Code.
