Orion Law Management Orion Desktop Articles Server and Workstation Creating an ODBC Connection to Orion Updated April 14, 2024 16:04 Using an ODBC connection to Orion for SQL access or commonly used programs such as Excel is a fairly straightforward process. Orion uses Actian SQL as the database software, and while a variety of drivers exist that can be used, one is provided with the Orion installation. To use ODBC, first install Orion. This is typically found in the clients folder on the Orion server, for example, \\orionserver\olms\orion\clients (replace orionserver with the name of server used). If you install the 64-bit version of Orion, we will install the ODBC driver for both 32-bit and 64-bit ODBC. If you install the 32-bit version of Orion, we will only install the 32-bit ODBC driver. Once installed, open ODBC Data Sources from the machine, this is located either in Administrative Tools or Windows Tools from the Control Panel. Go To Server DSN and Choose Add on the right. In the dialog box, choose Pervasive ODBC Interface and Finish In the following screen, enter a display name for the Data Source Name. Enter the Server name of the Orion Server, and choose Get List. Choose OrionData from the dialog screen. You will be prompted for a username and password. This is for database authentication and windows authentication will not work. If you do not have a username and password, our support department will need to provide one for you. Please reach out to support@orionlaw.com Was this article helpful? Yes/No
