General Ledger Account Budgets

  • Updated

Orion allows you to enter monthly budgets or an annual budget for each General Ledger account.  Budgets may be entered/edited for the current GL Fiscal Year or any previous year in the system.  To enter a budget for a GL account, call up the account in GL Manager by choosing TOOLS, Chart of Accounts and entering the account number or using Look-Up to locate the account.

The Budget Year will default to the current year but you may change it to any previous year held in Orion.  To enter monthly budgets, enter an amount in each period.  To enter an annual budget, click on the ENTER ANNUAL AMOUNT Button, enter the annual budget amount, choose whether to round the monthly numbers to even dollars (no cents) and click OK.  Orion will take the amount entered and divide it by 12 and place the resulting amount in each period.  If the annual amount entered is not divisible by 12, Orion will place the difference in Period 12.  For example, if you enter an annual budget of $12,500.00, Periods 1 through 11 will show a budget of $1,041.67 and Period 12 will show a budget of $1,041.63.

After entering your Budget, click the SAVE Button to save your changes.  You may edit a Budget at any time but keep in mind that continuous edits of budgets negates their purpose and usefulness to the firm.
