The Data Components Toolbar

  • Updated

The Data Components Toolbar offers several objects that are similar to those found in the Standard Components Toolbar except they are data aware - this means they are reading a value from the database and are then displaying that value on the report.  You associate a Data Component object with a given data pipeline and field by selecting the data pipeline and field from the drop-down lists in the Edit Toolbar.

DBText - displays data from most types of data fields. Use the Edit Toolbar to choose the Data Feed and the data field.  Note - instead of choosing this object, you may drag and drop an object from the “Data Tree” and the information in the Edit Toolbar will automatically be displayed.

DBMemo - prints plain text from a database memo field.  Place the object on your report and then use the Edit Toolbar to choose the Data Feed and Field you want displayed.  To cause the DBMemo to word wrap and print all contents, right click on the object and choose Stretch.

DBRichText - prints formatted text from a memo field.

DBCalc - performs simple database calculations such as Sum, Count, Average.  Place the object on your report and then use the Edit Toolbar to choose the Data Feed and Field you want to sum, count, etc.

DBImage - prints graphics that are stored in a database field.  Place the object on your report and then use the Edit Toolbar to choose the Data Feed and Field you want displayed.

DBBarCode - converts the data from a database field to a barcode symbol.

DBCheckbox - this is a custom object written into the Report Builder by Orion and is used for fields where there is a Yes/No option.  For example, Include Inactive Timekeepers, Yes or No.
