The Standard Component Toolbar

The Standard Component Toolbar contains the most frequently used components for report building (labels, memos, variables).  To add a component to your report, click on an option in the Toolbar and then click in the report band where you want to place the component.

Selection Tool - selects one or more objects within the layout.  To select one object, click on it.  To select multiple objects, hold your left mouse button down and drag across the objects you want to select.  To clear your selection(s), click in the white space of a band.  To remove the selection of one object when multiple objects are selected, hold down the SHIFT key and click on the object you want to de-select.

Label - an object that allows you to display text.  This is text hard coded in the report and is not pulling data from the database.    

Boxed Label - an object that allows you to display text within a printed box.  This is text hard coded in the report and is not pulling data from the database.

Memo - prints multiple lines of plain text in a report.  This is text hard coded in the report and is not pulling data from the database.

RichText - prints formatted text.  This is text hard coded in the report and is not pulling data from the database.

System Variable - allows you to display common report information such as page number, page count, print date and time, current date and time.
                                        
Variable - allows you to perform calculations.  This object is not used as much as the “Calculate” object.

Calculate - this is a custom object written into the Report Builder by Orion that allows you to perform complicated calculations on the data being fed into the report.  This object is used in most cases when a calculation is required (instead of the Variable object).  When choosing this object, you should specify it as a “Currency” type field in the Edit Toolbar.

Image - allows you to embed images in your report such as BMP, GIF and JPEG files.

Shape - allows you to add shapes such as squares, rectangles, circles, etc. to your report.  When choosing this object, use the Edit Toolbar to set the shape type.

Line - allows you to add a line to your report.  Use the Edit Toolbar to set the line orientation.  Left and Right create a Vertical Line and Top and Bottom create a Horizontal Line.  To print a double line, right click on the Line object and choose Double.

BarCode - renders a bar code on the report.

Standard Footer - this is a custom object written into the Report Builder by Orion.  It allows you to drop the “Standard Report Footer” on your report (Page Number, Firm Name, Date/Time of Report) so you do not have to design a footer for every report.

Checkbox - allows you to drop a checkbox on your report.
