Reports for Analyzing Courtesy Discounts

  • Updated

The exact report you choose to run depends on how you record “Courtesy Discounts.”  If discounts are given by way of write downs of time and amount during the Bill Preparation phase, you may run a Billing Realization Report (found under Billing and Revenue Reports) using the Sort Order Client-Matter.  Enter a date range large enough to encompass all invoices generated for the Client-Matter(s) and choose Client-Matter detail so you can review discounts at a Matter level as well as Client level. You also need to make sure you select Include Inactive Timekeepers.

If “Courtesy Discounts” are given by entering and applying Credits (CR) to fees billed, you may run a Payment Application Analysis (found under Billing and Revenue Reports) using the Sort Order Client-Matter.  Enter a date range large enough to encompass all Credit transactions that may have been entered and select Application detail.  Choose to include only CR (Credit) transactions and Reversals.

The Fees column will show the total discount applied to fees for the Client.
