Global Edits, Releasing and Combining Multiple Fee Transactions

Orion’s Global Edit feature will allow you to edit more than one Transaction, at a time, through Time Manager.  In the Main Grid, set your Filter to specify the range of Transactions to be edited.  Select the appropriate Transactions, using your mouse, and either click the Edit Button or right click and choose Edit Selected.

The following window will appear:

Enter the new values, in the selected fields, and click the OK Button to accept the change(s).

  1. There are several rules and restrictions that apply when making these Global Edits.
  2. Any Minimum/Maximum Date Restrictions, set up in the system, will apply.  For example, if the system is set to restrict entry/edit of a Fee Transaction to within the range of 01/01/2023 through 01/31/2023, you will not be able to edit a Transaction currently dated outside that range nor will you be able to change the Transactions to a date outside that range.
  3. Transactions that have been Invoiced may not be edited.
  4. If editing the Client-Matter number, to one that requires Task Codes, you will need to enter a value in the Phase-Task field at the same time you are editing the Client-Matter number.
  5. A valid Rate Code must exist for the Timekeeper on the Client-Matter number.
  6. If you require Work Location Codes, a valid Work Location must be assigned to the Timekeeper.

The Tools Menu offers other “Global” features, available through the Time Manager.

If you have multiple, Unreleased, Fee Transactions that you would like to Release at one time, select the Transactions, and from the Tools Button or by right clicking, choose the “Release Fees” option.  If it is determined that one or more Transactions cannot be Released, an information message will appear and only those Transactions that are Valid will be Released or you will have the option to cancel.

If you have multiple Fee Transactions entered on the same date, for the same Client-Matter and you would like to consolidate them into one Transaction, select the Transactions, and from the Tools Button or by right clicking, choose the “Combine Fees” option.  The Transactions must be for the same Timekeeper, entered on the same date, for the same Client-Matter or the system will cancel the Combine.  The Transactions are combined in order of record number (entry order).
